Kevin Coffman, Hardwood Silviculturalist
Kevin graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry with emphasis on timber management. Upon graduation he went to work for the Texas Forest Service - Pest Control Section in Lufkin, Texas as a research specialist in Southern Pine Beetle detection, and control methods.

After three years with the Texas Forest Service, Kevin then started work with Temple-Inland Forest Products as a Fiber Analyst for their Buna and Southwest Louisiana sawmills. Shortly thereafter he began his career as a Hardwood Forester for Temple where he studied bottomland hardwood management strategies and regimes for 12 years. Kevin remains passionate about bottomland hardwood management and ecology and is experienced in mapping, silviculture, management prescriptions, road building/layout, and harvesting of these bottomland hardwood systems in East Texas.

Along with his hardwood management experience, he has also worked closely with Texas Animal Damage Control and was manager of the animal damage control efforts on Temple-Inland properties in Texas and southwest Louisiana. He has helped host several seminars and short courses on hardwood management, and is a member of the Southern Hardwood Forestry Group. During his tenure with Temple-Inland he was responsible for management and implementation of harvest operations on approximately 150,000 acres designated as southern hardwood forest that occur mainly in the flood plains along the Neches River and to a lesser extent the Angelina and Sabine Rivers, and adjoining creek bottoms.

He joined Advanced Ecology, Ltd. as a Hardwood Silviculturalist in November 2007 where he continues his work in hardwood silviculture, consulting, and wetlands mitigation/delineation work for private landowners.

Kevin currently lives in Nacogdoches, Texas and thoroughly enjoys all aspects of the outdoor lifestyle and hopes to never stop learning about hardwood management and ecology.
