AEL has extensive knowledge and experience managing
endangered species issues for both private landowners
and corporate clients. AEL can conduct threatened and
endangered species surveys and monitoring activities,
as well as provide management recommendations and options.
AEL biologists have worked with most mammal and avian species indigenous to the
southeastern US. In addition, staff members have conducted investigations in
western regions including Utah and Montana.
AEL has conducted annual recruitment and presence/absence surveys over 110 red
cockaded woodpecker colonies within the states of Louisiana and Arkansas. In
addition, the firm has conducted evaluations and surveys for red cockaded woodpeckers,
bald eagles and gopher tortoises on state and federal lands for the US Forest
Service, Bureau of Land Management and several state wildlife agencies. AEL biologists
have also evaluated over 50,000 acres of industrial forest timberlands for applicable
species. Firm biologists have also conducted habitat surveys for golden cheeked
warblers and black capped vireos in Central and South Texas.
Other threatened/endangered species related services
include assistance in preparing formal cooperative agreements
with the USFWS and conducting wildlife ecology and natural
resource training that is individually tailored to meet
corporate needs. Past seminars and training courses include
